Curvd Aire and Courtney Daniels in beautiful Coloma, California.

7:00 pm – March 2, 2024:

Join Curvd Aire and special guest opera singer Courtney Daniels in a wonderfully diverse selection of fine music and fun music, held at the historic Grange in Coloma, a short walk from the spot where gold was discovered to begin the Gold Rush of 1849. (Yes, the original 49-ers).

After a quick intro piece, we’ll start with the beautiful “Elsa’s Dream” from Wagner’s Lohengrin in a unique arrangement written just for this ensemble.

Interspersed through the concert will be a selection of “Animal Ditties”, narrated by Courtney and featuring all the instruments not only in fun technical playing but in special sound effects. This set of ditties always leaves the audience laughing and intrigued.

As the Grange was built in 1926, we will perform a couple of George Gershwin works written in 1926, just for fun.

We’ll go back to the Renaissance days with a rousing rendition of Revecy Venir du Printemps, and play music from the 21st century, Monterey Sketches by Nicole Piunno.

Other works on the program will include movements from the top shelf compositions for brass quintet by composers such as Malcolm Arnold and Eric Ewazen.

And a few surprises – The Canadian Brass’s beautiful arrangement of “Halleluia” by Leonard Cohen and a sweet bon bon by Antonio Carlos Jobim.

It will be a fun and fulfilling evening and will kick off the commitment of the Lotus-Coloma area to provide classical and semi-classical music to the foothill region.

We look forward to seeing you there!
